Among her many other roles, Dr Malave has been a speaker and workshop leader with APC for many years, leads our 'Parenting Roundtable' at our monthly meetings and is the author of the Dear Anne column in the APC Adoptalk Newsletter.

Adoption is a process of adaptation that usually feels overwhelming.  This workshop will provide a roadmap for the journey to adoption with helpful landmarks along the way that will simplify the process.

·      Will my family accept an adopted child?
·      What can I/we do to strengthen our future adoptive family?
·      Will it be “all right”?

When should you start post adoption services?  Before adoption!  This workshop will discuss the post adoption services available for the entire adoptive family, throughout the lifetime of the family.  We will review the types of post adoption services and levels of care available, depending on the child and family's needs, age at placement, and pre-placement experiences.  From play groups to support groups, there is always a way to stay connected to the adoption community.   This interactive workshop will support all families, at any stage of adoption, to make a long term plan for their family's post adoption needs and identify services that can grow up with your family
