This session will provide a detailed discussion of how to create and write a profile for prospective birth parents to view either on paper or on the web. The tools needed to place an advertisement and how to actually speak to a potential birth parent will be shared as well.

POST-ADOPT: Pediatric Medical Issues in Children Adopted Domestically and Internationally

Guest Speaker: Dr. Paul Lee, MD; Winthrop University Hospital International Adoption Program

Exposure to prenatal substance abuse and effects will be discussed. Is this typical behavior or an adoption issue? What do internationally adopted children have in common and what medical and developmental concerns should one be aware of when adopting domestically? Attendees will gain an understanding of possible health related concerns and leave with less apprehension.

If the other worskhops offerd don't apply to you, please come and talk with others in your situation.  This is an open discssion group - a great place to get (and give) support in an intimate setting to others who are in the process or have already adopted.
