Your conference committee has been hard at work over the summer creating a great program.

You are cordially invited to the most heartwarming, hopeful and joyous occasion of the year! We will light candles to welcome new family additions, remember those children still waiting for their forever family, wish for the child yet to be, and rejoice in your family formed long ago.

 Nina Rumbold, Esq, Denise Seidelman, Esq,  Adoption Attorneys and Jennifer Caplan Testa, LCSW, Community Outreach Volunteer,  Friends in Adoption, Adoption Agency

 Open adoption provides the opportunity for there to be an ongoing direct relationship between the adopted child and the birth family, according to the comfort level of all involved. Learn about the different types of open adoption from families who have been living this wonderful journey. Plenty of time for questions.

7:15   Parenting Roundtable with Dr Anne Malave- bring your questions and concerns. 

8:15pm Featured Speaker Dr Anne Malave, PhD., a Clinical Psychologist and psychoanalyst in private practice in NYC. She specializes all forms of family building, including adoption. Among her many other roles, Dr Malave has been a speaker and workshop leader with APC for many years, leads our 'Parenting Roundtable' at our monthly meetings and is the author of the Dear Anne column in the APC Adoptalk Newsletter. 

 

ADAPTING TO ADOPTION

 

Adoption is a process of adaptation that usually feels overwhelming.  This workshop will provide a roadmap for the journey to adoption with helpful landmarks along the way that will simplify the process.  
 
Topics covered will address common questions such as:
 
·      Will I love an adopted child?
·      Will an adopted child love me?
·      Will my family accept an adopted child?
·      What can I/we do to strengthen our future adoptive family?
·      Will it be “all right”?
